A strategy board game for 2 players by Mark Engelberg.
Meet the Snorkels, the friendly aliens from Deneb Gamma IV. One player will control the green Snorkels, and the other player will control the purple Snorkels. Each turn, you place one of your Snorkel pieces on the board. Snorkels never move once they are placed. Each Snorkel has four breathing tubes coming out of its body. If all of its tubes get blocked by the walls at the edge of the board or by enemy Snorkels, it passes out from lack of air and gets captured by the enemy. The first player to be captured loses the game.
A common practice among Go educators, especially those who work with kids, is to begin by teaching a somewhat simpler variant of Go known as The Capture Game. Snorkels is an adaptation of The capture game by Mark Engelberg, who will donate his share of the proceeds to the American Go Foundation.

Originally published in 1892. Updated rules, board designand variants by Daniel Danzer (2010)
Colorito was first published in London, 1892. To the new genre of boardgames with the final goal to cross the board with the pieces (established by Halma in 1883), the unknown author added two crucial elements: Numbered pieces and two colours per player. Colorito became popular enough to be one of Anastasias (youngest daughter of the last Czar) favourite leisure activities at about 1915.
The original rules were researched at the British Library for this edition and now you can play this truly unique abstract again - with two added variants. Colorito has a light feeling, but enough depth to be a challenge for experienced gamers.

Each player is given 19 tiles in three sizes. As the game progresses, it gets more difficult to play the larger tiles. However, the game ends when one player cannot make a move, so forcing a quick end by having no playable tiles left may be an advantage.
